Woodland Management Planning

Our woodland management plans are written in accordance with the UK Forest Standard. We work with the Forestry Commission, Natural Resources Wales, local communities, stakeholders and experts in their fields, to ensure our planning is as robust and thorough as it can be. We aim to protect, enhance and expand each woodland’s unique characteristics.

An improved woodland management plan can set the vision and associated objectives for a 10 year period. It can also unlock the potential for significant funding streams to support environmentally sound silviculture.

Woodland Creation

We work with a range of UK tree nurseries to source the right plant for the site. Species choice and provenance are carefully assessed, before we put spades in the ground during the winter planting season.

Monitoring

Pests, diseases and climate change can all impact on the health, vigour and growth of our trees and woodlands. Monitoring and maintenance is an important part of maintaining mature woodland and establishing young trees.

Silvicultural Systems

Continuous cover forestry (CCF) allows for the regular production of quality timber by way of selective and carefully planned low impact interventions that remove mature trees, whilst promoting the growth of others. CCF can create a diverse age, size and species structure, which is fantastic for wildlife and more resilient to pests and diseases.
